MANILA, Philippines — Nais ni Vice President Sara Duterte na makita ang ebidensiya sa sinasabing 30,000 mga namatay sa war on drugs ng nagdaang administrasyon.
Ayon kay VP Sara, kulang ang nasa 181 piraso ng ebidensiya na iniharap ng prosekusyon sa International Criminal Court (ICC).
Hindi aniya ito sapat sa laki ng bilang ng diumano’y extrajudicial killings noong war on drugs ni dating Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte.
Ayon sa mga human rights group nasa 30,000 ang napatay sa madugong war on drugs pero sa rekord ng pulisya, ang bilang ay nasa 6,000 lamang.
“So, nasaan na ang 30,000 pieces of evidence? This is not a case for the ICC. These were not even cases in the Philippines. Not a single case,’’ sabi ni Duterte.
“How can you prove systematic killing of 30,000 victims if you do not have the names of 30,000 victims? …and yet we have 181 pieces of evidence. And we don’t even have 50 victims. This is 43 counts of murder, not even 50. So, where is the system there of killing thousands?”
Ayon naman kay Atty. Kristina Conti ng National Union of People’s Lawyers na kumakatawan sa mga biktima, “In crimes against humanity, you do not need to name all the victims.”
“Siguro magandang tingnan ni VP Sara—and this is perfect—what happened to the Holocaust?” sabi ni Conti na tinukoy ang Nuremberg trials.
“Sa Nuremberg trials, they did not need to name all those killed. The gist of this case of crimes against humanity is the manner of killing—widespread and systematic—could be established by the testimony of even just one person.”
Nilinaw din niya na ang 181 pieces of evidence ay preliminary documents lang.
Ang confirmation of charges ay gagawin sa September 23, pero naniniwala si Conti na ang ICC prosecutor ay ‘’trial ready.’’
