MANILA, Philippines — Dapat na isama sa lifestyle check ang pamilya at kaanak ng mga diumano’y sangkot sa maanomalyang flood control projects, kabilang na ang mga opisyal ng gobyerno, ayon kay Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulla.
Ang reaksyon ng kalihim ay kasunod ng utos ni Pangulong Ferdinand Marcos Jr. na isailalim sa lifestyle check ang mga sangkot sa nasabing kontrobersya.
Naniniwala si Remulla na “people who benefit from the illegal act are part of the illegal act.”
“Kasama sa lifestyle check ‘yan eh. Kasi ‘yung lifestyle niyan does not only go to the person who is the principal but to the small family that benefits. People who benefit from the illegal act are part of the illegal act,” aniya pa.
Nais din ni Remula ng “whole-of-government approach” sa lifestyle checks o magtulungan ang mga ahensiya ng gobyerno.
“Actually, dapat nga silipan ‘yan ng whole-of-government approach talaga. Kung tatanungin mo ako, I would prefer a whole-of-government approach. That’s why the BIR is doing the right thing in checking the tax records right now. And hopefully, they’ll be sharing the records with the investigative bodies later on,” paliwanag niya.
‘Pag napunta na aniya sa DOJ ang mga kaso, kakailanganin nila ang pakikipagtulungan ng iba pang ahensiya sa pagtukoy sa “veracity” ng mga kasong naihain.
