MANILA, Philippines — Inalis sa puwesto ni Pangulong Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. si Philippine National Police Chief General Nicolas Torre III.
Nakasaad sa ipinalabas na kautusan ni Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin na epektibo agad ang direktiba.
“You are hereby relieved as Chief PNP effective immediately,” saad sa memo ng Palasyo na may petsang Agosto 25, 2025 at pirmado ni Bersamin.
“For the continuous and efficient delivery of public services in the PNP, you are hereby directed to ensure proper turnover of all matters, documents and information relative to your office,” nakasaad pa sa kautusan.
Kinumpirma naman ni DILG Secretary Jonvic Remulla, ang pagtatalaga kay PLtGeneral Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. bilang bagong hepe ng PNP.
Ikinokonsidera umano ni Pangulong Marcos na mailipat sa ibang ahensiya ng gobyerno si Torre.
“I was privy to a conversation that the President is considering him for another post in government. We will know soon if General Torre will accept,” sabi ni Remulla.
Desisyon na aniya ni Torre kung magreretiro o mananatili sa PNP.
“The President still believes in his capacity, in his organizational strength, his vast experience in the service. The President believes that he can be of use in other positions critical to the nation’s development. He has the option of retiring or staying in the PNP ”dagdag ni Remulla.
Si Torre ang ika-31 PNP chief na tumagal ng dalawang buwan at tatlong linggo matapos maupo sa puwesto noong Hunyo 2.
Siya ang kauna-unahang PNP chief na galing sa Philippine National Police Academy (PNPA) at nakatakdang magretiro sa March 11, 2027.
Si Torre ang hepe ng Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) na nanguna sa pag-aresto kay dating pangulong Rodrigo Duterte at sa pagdala nito sa International Criminal Court sa The Hague, Netherlands noong Marso 11.
Pinangunahan din ni Torre ang pagdakip kay Kingdom of Jesus Christ founder Apollo Quiboloy noong Setyembre 8, 2024 sa Davao City.
