BATANGAS CITY , Philippines — Dahil sa magandang pagtanggap ng mga participating teams at fans ay plano ng organizers ng Shakey’s Super League (SSL) National Invitationals na ipagpatuloy ang kanilang three-leg format sa mga susunod na edisyon.
Dinala ng SSL ang elite collegiate volleyball action sa mga supporters mula sa Mindanao, Visayas at Luzon.
Matagumpay na naiparada ng SSL ang mga local talents right sa kanilang mga probinsya katapat ang mga Manila-based teams mula sa UAAP at NCAA sa torneong itinataguyod ng Shakey’s Pizza Parlor, Peri-Peri Charcoal Chicken, Potato Corner and R at B Milk Tea.
“The impact is really different. Malaking bagay ‘yung nailalapit natin ‘yung mga laro sa ating mga kababayan sa malalayong lugar,” sabi ni league organizer Athletic Events and Sports Management Inc. (ACES) president Dr. Ian Laurel sa third at final leg sa Batangas noong Biyernes dito sa Batangas Country Club.
“We would strongly recommend that this is how we do it each year, from now on,” dagdag nito.
Nakasama ni Laurel sina ACES director Ariel Paredes, Competition Director Ginio Panganiban, Referee Manager Erwin Cordero, Shakey’s Batangas Group Franchise head Pauline Bondad, Batangas Country Club Even Manager Jong Rivera, BCC Executive Chef Andrew Koh at University of Batangas Sports Director Christopher Quizon sa paglulunsad ng Luzon leg.
Kasalukuyang naglalaban ang Far Eastern University, NCAA champion College of Saint Benilde, Letran at host UB para sa Batangas Leg crown sa UB Millennium Gym.
Ang first leg ay idinaos sa Davao City kung saan nagreyna ang National University matapos talunin ang University of the Philippines, Notre Dame of Dadiangas University at Davao Selection na binubuo ng mga players mula sa Ateneo de Davao University, Holy Cross of Davao College at University of Mindanao.
Ang Adamson University ang nagwagi sa Cebu Leg kontra sa home team University of San Carlos, Ateneo de Manila University at University of Southern Philippines Foundation.
“Nandoon pa lang tayo sa Davao, four weeks ago for the first leg. We already received requests from different LGUs (local government units) and provinces. We have one from Palawan, we have one from Cagayan De Oro, we have one from the north, from Ilocos,” wika ni Laurel.
“Then we did Cebu. New ones started to request and already want to talk to us for next year. So, I think the impact, when you base it on the impact that we made this year compared to the past two years, is really more impactful and has more meaning.”
