MANILA, Philippines — Handa na ang lahat para sa Premier Volleyball League (PVL) Annual Rookie Draft na idaraos sa Linggo sa Novotel Hotel sa Araneta Center tampok ang mahuhusay na players na pagpipilian ng mga PVL teams.
Ayon kay PVL Control Committee chairman Sherwin Malonzo, malalim ang draft sa taong ito na may 60 aplikante kabilang ang 25 mula sa UAAP, 15 mula sa NCAA, pito ang foreign-based players.
“Mas malalaki at mas malalakas ang mga players so maraming pagpi-pilian ngayon yung teams. I think, especially yung top four picks, they’ll be able to beef up their lineups with these new, really good players,” ani Malonzo.
Kabilang sa mga kalahok si Alohi Robins-Hardy na napaulat na nais lamang maglaro para sa Farm Fresh.
Subalit iginiit ni PVL President Ricky Palou na hindi maaring pumili si Robins-Hardy kung saan nito gusto lumaro dahil kailangan nitong sundin ang draft sinuman ang humugot sa kanya.
“We will not allow that. She cannot choose the team she wants to play for. She has to go through the draft,” ani Palou.
Kung hindi susunod si Robins-Hardy na maglaro sa team na pipili sa kanya, papatawan ito ng parusa ng liga.
“There will be sanctions. We still haven’t discussed yet the sanctions we’ll impose on players who violate this rule. Once you go to the draft and a team drafts you, you have to play for that team or you won’t play at all,” ani Palou.
Pipili ang Farm Fresh ng ikatlo sa first round matapos ang Capital1 Solar at Galeries Tower.
Nasa No. 4 ang Nxled kasunod ang Zus Coffee, Cignal, Choco Mucho, Cherry Tiggo, PLDT, Akari, Petro Gazz, at Creamline.
“This draft will be really interesting since it will improve the skill levels and competitiveness of all the teams. I’m sure the lower-ranking teams in the past will now be able to beef up their lineup with these new players, and they’ll be able to compete well against the other top teams,” dagdag ni Palou.
