MANILA, Philippines — Pormal nang nagpaalam kahapon ang Chery Tiggo sa Premier Volleyball League (PVL) matapos ang apat na taon.
Inihayag ito ng Crossovers, ang kauna-unahang nagreyna sa PVL sa Open Conference matapos talunin ang Creamline Cool Smashers noong 2021, sa isang social media post.
“With heavy hearts, we announce the closing of the Chery Tiggo EV Crossovers’ chapter, after 11 unforgettable years in professional volleyball,” sabi ng Chery Tiggo sa isang official statement na unang naglaro sa Philippine Superliga (PSL) noong 2014 bilang Foton Tornadoes.
“From our beginnings as the Foton Tornadoes to our journey as the Chery Tiggo EV Crossovers, we celebrate the milestones: the championships, the talent we developed, and representing the Philippines on the biggest stage.”
Gamit ang Foton brand ay dalawang beses nagkampeon ang Tornadoes sa PSL bago lumipat sa PVL noong 2020 bilang Crossovers.
Matapos ito ay hindi na naka-podium finish ang Chery Tiggo hanggang makakuha ng silver medal noong 2024 PVL on Tour na napanalunan ng PLDT.
Sa sumunod na Invitational Conference, inangkin din ng High Speed Hitters, ay tumapos ang Crososvers sa fourth place at 10th place sa katatapos lang na Reinforced Conference na kinopo ng Petro Gazz Angels laban sa ZUS Coffee Thunderbelles.
Sa pagkawala ng Crossovers sa PVL ay inaasahang pag-aagawan ng 11 pang member teams sina free agents Ara Galang, Aby Maraño, Mylene Paat, Jen Nierva, Cess Robles, Pauline Gaston, Imee Hernandez, Shaya Adorador, Jasmine Nabor, Alina Bicar, Cza Carandang, Joyme Cagande, Anngela Nunag, Karen Verdeflor, Seth Rodriguez, Rhose Dapol at rookies Ren Peñafiel, Jyne Soreño, Erika Deloria at Reyann Cañete.
