MANILA, Philippines — Pinuri ni Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) chairman Patrick ‘Pato’ Gregorio ang pag-apruba ni President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. para sa pagtatayo ng National Sports Tourism Inter-Agency Committee (NST-IAC) sa pamamagitan ng Administrative Order No. 38.
Inutusan ng Pangulo ang NST-IAC “to harmonize, coordinate, and oversee all government initiatives to develop, promote, and sustain sports tourism in the country.”
Nakasaad dito na binuo ang NST-IAC para pangasiwaan ang “development, promotion, and implementation of sports tourism initiatives.”
Sa ilalim ng Administrative Order No. 38 na nilagdaan ng Presidente noong Oktubre 29, 2025, si Gregorio ay magsisilbing chairman ng NST-IAC kasama ang opisyal ng Department of Tourism (DoT) bilang vice-chairperson at ang Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG), Department of Budget and Management (DBM), Tourism Infrastructure and Enterprise Zone Authority (TIEZA) at Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR) bilang mga miyembro.
“We understand our role. We are enablers. Whether it’s working with DepEd for grassroots development or with the DoT for sports tourism, sports will be a key catalyst and driver of the national agenda,” sabi ni Gregorio.
Idinagdag ng PSC chief na kinilala ng Pangulo, isang avid sportsman at pinakamalaking supporter ng Filipino athlete, ang hosting ng mga major international sports events bilang paraan ng pagpo-promote ng bansa sa global audience.
“The biggest tourism events in the world are sports events,” wika ni Gregorio.
