MANILA, Philippines — Kumpiyansa ang mga top sports officials sa magiging kampanya ng Team Philippines sa 33rd Southeast Asian Games sa Thailand sa Disyembre 9 hanggang 20.
Pinamunuan kahapon nina Philippine Sports Commisson (PSC) chairman Patrick ‘Pato’ Gregorio at Philippine Olympic Committee (POC) president Abraham “Bambol” Tolentino ang send-off ceremony para sa delegasyon sa Rizal Memorial Coliseum sa Malate, Manila.
Kapwa nangako ng bonus sina Gregorio at Tolentino para sa mga atletang mag-uuwi ng gold medal mula sa 2025 SEA Games.
Hangad ng Team Philippines na malampasan ang fifth-place finish sa Cambodia SEA Games noong 2023.
Humakot ang mga Pinoy athletes ng kabuuang 58 golds, 86 silvers at 116 bronzes.
“Napaka-lively and energetic and confident na iyong ating mga athletes,” sabi ni POC secretary-general Atty. Wharton Chan.
“Binigay natin lahat para sa kanila, they are all equipped, they have all the arsenals they need to compete, to win and get the much-needed gold for our country. So this SEA Games will boost our confidence,” dagdag nito.
Sasalang kaagad sa aksyon ang mga national athlete sa Disyembre 3 sa football at polo events ilang araw bago ang opening ceremony.
Ang 1,168 atleta ang pinakamalaking Philippine delegation na sasabak sa SEA Games history.
Makikipag-agawan sa gintong medalya ang mga atleta sa 50 sports at makakasama ang halos 500 officials, coaches at staff.
Pinamunuan ni Agatha Wong, ang five-time SEA Games wushu gold medalist, ang mga national athletes sa kanilang ‘message of commitment’.
