Dumarami na ang mga celebrity na naglalabas ng galit at takot sa mga pagbubunyag tungkol sa korapsyon sa flood control projects na diumano’y kinasasangkutan ng ibang pulitiko.

Umpisa ng post niya, ano bang nangyayari sa mundo natin?
Sa isang bahagi aniya ng mundo, nagpapatuloy ang giyera—ang mga kapitbahay ay lumalaban sa mga kapitbahay, mga pamilyang lumikas, ang buong komunidad ay nagkawatak-watak. Ang mga nagpoprotesta ay sumusugod sa mga lansangan, sa lumalaganap sa kaguluhan na humaharang sa mga mamamayan laban sa awtoridad.
Sa ibang lugar, ang mga pamahalaan aniya ay mabilis na bumagsak, ang pamumuno ay nagbabago sa loob ng isang taon.
Isinama rin niya ang nangyari sa isang binata na naglakas-loob na magsalita ng katotohanan pero binaril sa harap ng maraming tao.
“And here we are, in the Philippines, caught in what I believe is the vilest controversy of our time. We face challenges rooted in systemic issues—corruption and inequality—that have crippled our development and clouded our hope.
“Early this week, while watching the hearings with my wife—as stories of corruption unfolded—we asked ourselves: What kind of future will our children inherit? Will they grow up in a society that values truth, integrity, and compassion, or one that normalizes deceit and greed?
“As parents, we know we cannot shield them forever. One day, they will face the world with their own eyes, their own voice, their own choices. The question is: how do we prepare them? How do we make sure they inherit not our fears, but our courage?” nag-aalala niyang post.
Dagdag pa niya, ngayon lang siya nakaramdam ng takot, galit, etc.: “Aaminin ko… I have never felt so disillusioned, anxious, disturbed, and angry all at once. Not just because I now know the taxes I’ve paid have been “played” with (pun intended)—but because the very institutions meant to secure our future may also be the same ones denying it to our children. This goes beyond corruption in the legal sense—and that pains me the most.
“And while I have the space to wrestle with these questions, millions of Filipinos are literally drowning in despair—carrying the daily weight of injustice, corruption, and broken systems. Their suffering is not abstract; it is the lived consequence of corruption that has stalled our nation’s progress.”
Sabi pa niya, sa loob ng maraming taon, marami sa atin ang sumubok na gumawa ng mabuti sa sarili nating maliliit na paraan.
Pero ganito ang nangyari, may sariling motibo ang ilang namumuno.
“For years, many of us have tried to do good in our own small ways. Yet on the bigger stage, what we see too often are selfish motives parading as leadership. Who do we turn to? Where do we run? Who do we trust?”
Sa bandang huli nabanggit niyang gumagawa siya ng character studies para sa isang bagong teleserye. Iyon daw ang dahilan kung bakit muli niyang pinanood ang sikat na TV show na Breaking Bad—isang kuwento kung paanong ang isang ordinaryong tao ay dahan-dahan, naging mapanganib, hanggang nilabanan niya ang kasamaan.
Kuwento niya pa: “The other night, after taping for Family Feud, when everyone at home was asleep, I sneaked in a couple of episodes. I reached that part when Walter White begins his descent—when the struggling father transforms into what he once fought against.
“And I couldn’t help but wonder: isn’t this also the story of humanity? Those who harm society—are they choosing evil, or are they victims of circumstance? Maybe both. Circumstance sparks the fire, but weakness—greed, fear, the thirst for belonging—fans the flame. At the heart of it is the failure to resist corruption, the surrender to darkness. Tanong niya, paano raw tayo nakarating dito? Ang masakit na katotohanan ay baka, kahit papaano, pinayagan natin ito sabi pa ng actor. “Through silence, inaction, and compromise, we opened the door. We told ourselves it was normal. We convinced ourselves it was inevitable. But it is not normal. And it should never be.
“We—this generation, standing between the past and the future—should know better. And that is why we cannot close our eyes now.”
Dagdag pa niya, mahalaga ang dialogue ngunit dapat daw itong humantong sa pagkilos. At ang pagkilos na iyon ay nagsisimula sa pananagutan, sabi pa ng aktor.
Dagdag niya pa, ang mga pinagkatiwalaan ng responsibilidad ay dapat panghawakan sa pinakamataas na pamantayan—hindi para pagsilbihan ang kanilang sarili, kundi piliin kung ano ang tama.
Gayunpaman, dagdag niya habang hinihintay nating kumilos ang ating mga lider, hindi raw tayo dapat maupo. Ang pagbabago aniya ay nagsisimula sa maliliit, mulat na mga pagpili na ginagawa natin—sa ating mga tahanan, sa ating mga komunidad, sa ating mga pag-uusap…sa ating mga kuwento. At nangyayari ito kapag itinataguyod aniya natin ang katapatan, tinatrato ang iba nang may paggalang, at sinusuportahan ang mga pagsisikap.
Mahaba pa ang post ni aktor, in the end umaasa siyang iiral ang konsensiya hanggang dumating ang pagdedesisyon. “And when that time comes—when my children, when our young people, are old enough to ask, “Anung nangyari sa mundo noon, Dad? What did we do?”—I pray we will have answers. Not excuses, but real answers. That we chose what was right. That we did what was needed. That we gave them a future worthy of their courage.”
